Is Spirituality Often Confused With Religion?

Spirituality is a popular topic these days. Unfortunately, many people do not have a clear grasp on what it is all about. In fact, many often confuse spirituality with religion, or subjects pertaining to religion.

While you can indeed be a very spiritual person if you are religious, you may be interested to learn that you do not have to practice or even believe in any religion in order to embrace spirituality and reap all of its wonderful benefits! Even though the two subjects can be connected, they do not need to be.

If this is the case, you may not understand why so many people confuse the two. Perhaps it is because they share some of the same factors which have the potential to enrich a person’s life, increase one’s personal sense of well-being, make interpersonal communications with other people even better, and provide for a brighter outlook on life.

Of course these are all very desirable characteristics – and even if you have no interest in religion, spirituality can help you to gain these life-enriching factors!

If you are one of the many people who have become disillusioned with organized or traditional religion, you are far from alone. Many have concluded that it does not provide the answers which they really need, and fail to gain a true sense of satisfaction from it. If this sounds like you, changing your focus from traditional religion and seeking the more spiritual aspects of yourself and life can be the answer you have been looking for.

This does not mean that if you hold a specific religion as dear and important to you that you must or should give it up. Instead, you can find that becoming more spiritual can enhance the beliefs that you already have. When you begin learning about all that is offered, you will gain a deeper understanding of yourself and your world; and this can help to make your particular beliefs even stronger.

When you begin to see how good life really is, you will gain a deeper sense of appreciation for everything. This includes other people, the world in general, and you yourself. You will be amazed at the joy that this will bring to you – as well as how much your new positive attitudes will greatly touch the other people who are in your life.

You can be spiritual without being religious; or, if it better suits your deepest beliefs, the combination can make both even better. After you have begun to experience a profound connection to your world, yourself, and to other people, you will see that becoming a more spiritual person breaks down the barriers between yourself and others. Religion itself cannot make this claim.

If you want the deepest sense of satisfaction and the strongest sense of connection that you can possibly have, perhaps it is time to reassess what you believe in and the effects that it has had. Upon doing this, if you find you want more and better, you will find the answers that you need are within yourself.

Andrea Lucas is the author of “My Life’s A Mess – But I Can Fix It! Reprint Your Blueprint and Grow Happy & Rich!”, which deals with the subject of the script, or life-blueprint by which we all live our lives. This blueprint is formed in early childhood as a result of a traumatic event (that could be as devastating as physical or emotional abuse or as insignificant as a spider bite that nevertheless is perceived as traumatic by the child). Such a negative event has a life-altering effect on the way the child sees the world and his/her place in it.

The good news is that a negative blueprint can be changed to a positive one in just seven simple steps. If you are unhappy with your life, your lack of financial or emotional security or your meager accomplishments to date, change your blueprint and reprint yourself a new one!
